NEW ATHLETIC DIRECTOR NAMED

Welcome Coach Allen Ponder

After a diligent search for a new Lakeside Athletic Director and Head Basketball/Baseball coach, please join us in welcoming Coach Allen Ponder.  Allen has most recently been employed by Lee-Scott and holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Alabama.  Allen played baseball at the University of Alabama and Auburn University Montgomery where he was a pitcher and first baseman.  Following college, he played professional baseball for the Pittsburgh Pirates.  He has coached girls and boys basketball and had extensive baseball coaching experience.

The Lakeside selection committee received 28 resumes’ from an AISA job posting and other sources.  A telephone interview was conducted with 7 candidates and 5 were asked to come in for a personal interview with the committee.  The entire board of directors then interviewed 3 of the applicants.  Once credentials were verified and recommendations from AISA athletic directors and a College level Head Basketball coach were received, Allen was selected by the Board of Directors and offered the job.

Lakeside is excited to have such a qualified and dynamic Athletic Director.  Go Chiefs!
